Why rango pg

The Oscars sometimes don't know a great film from a terrible one, and this is a terrible one. I mean this film is filled with violence, rude, crude, and sexual humor, and smoking and drinking. And this is supposed to be a family film? Family film my feet! The MPAA does not know how to rate movies anymore. I watched this with my Mom and Dad and my mom was so offended at the over the top mature and offensive humor as well as the violence, she left the room.

This is one, if not the worst, animated films I've ever seen. Helped me decide. Read my mind 3. Adult Written by VelvetAesthetix January 3, Helped me decide 1. Read my mind. A very beautifully-made movie! And today, it still remains as one of my top favorite animated movies of all time. Rango is not as bad as you may think, trust me. This movie is perfect in every way: the animation is realistic and gorgeous, the character designs are interesting, the plot is fun, and the soundtrack is very well-composed.

And the voice casting was perfect. I highly recommend it. It gets better once the story starts to progress. Also some little fun facts about this movie: the same studio Industrial Light and Magic that made the visual effects in the Star Wars movies and many other classic films, worked on the animation in Rango!

It is their first animated movie to have ever worked on and the result was amazing. And a few cast members from Pirates of the Caribbean, including the director, made vocal appearances in the movie too. This title contains: Positive Messages.

Positive role models. Adult Written by JK January 30, Good Weekend family movie 11 yr old girl and 13 yr old boy here. My husband said it was better than most animated movies, it's rare he actually watches one and this one held his interest.

I was half paying attention, doing other things but what I saw seemed like a good movie with overall a good message. Animation was fantastic. I did see a few things people mentioned that were of concern to them, and was on the lookout for those, but nothing stood out to me as significant and my kids are mature enough to see past the trivial stuff and benefit from the moral of the story. Parent of a 12 and year-old Written by karenh11 April 22, There is a lot of cartoon violence, and frightening scenes that younger kids might find too scary.

The characters are strange in both appearance and behavior, but they remain largely undeveloped, and there are overly-caricatured "redneck hillbilly" stereotypes that some may find offensive. The plotline sounded like it might be a cute movie, but it was frankly painful to sit through. The little bit of personal growth that Rango goes through isn't enough to make this worth the time to watch it. Adult Written by biovox14 January 1, One of my favorites Such a good movie, though a bit dark for the younger kids.

Lots of interesting themes, and a greatly unique movie. Had useful details. Adult Written by Gxgginc December 19, It is more violent, and disturbing than most other movies of its kind. However, it is also very enjoyable. Advertising that manipulates the self concept of young children is a multi-billion dollar industry.

Those smoking scenes in Rango can be seen as product placement. I believe as others, that parents need to be the final arbiter of what their children see in movies and on tv. I remember when my oldest was in kindergarten and a parent told me they allowed their 5 year-old to see the live-action Spiderman.

I can only hope that continues. I think that the smoking in Rango is the closest the tobacco industry can get to advertising to kids since it has otherwise been banned. I would be curious if they had anything to do with all the product placement in Rango. It looks like Rango is put out by Nicklodean and Paramount and I would imagine such giant companies would probably like some sponsorship by the tobacco industry.

Unless of course you want your child to be swayed by everyone who says they need this or need that. More power to you for putting effort into parenting instead of just trusting that anything on tv is fine!

We considered seeing Rango this weekend, but after reading about it on commonsensemedia. Seattle Children's complies with applicable federal and other civil rights laws and does not discriminate, exclude people or treat them differently based on race, color, religion creed , sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin ancestry , age, disability, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state or local law.

Financial assistance for medically necessary services is based on family income and hospital resources and is provided to children under age 21 whose primary residence is in Washington, Alaska, Montana or Idaho. Rigorous research finds that grade-schoolers exposed to on-screen smoking are much more likely to start smoking as teens.

This particular study found that exposure to smoking images as a young child even has influence on choices later in life. The CDC released a statement in August outlining new study results proving a reduction of tobacco images in the movies.

Many groups that advocate for children feel the film industry has an obligation to its viewers. March 9, at pm. Ben says:. We first meet the small green chameleon who dreams of being a famous thespian inside a glass cage in the back of a car speeding down a desert highway.

When the driver swerves to miss an armadillo voice by Alfred Molina wandering across the road, the lizard voice by Johnny Depp , his cage and the other inanimate objects inside it including the naked, upper torso of a headless Barbie are thrown out an open window. Luckily the armadillo that caused the accident and now has a tire indentation running through his middle sends the lizard wandering off across the sand in search of water and some friendly townsfolk.

Unfortunately the citizens of Dirt have neither water nor a friendly welcome, especially for a new arrival that comes dressed in a Hawaiian shirt. With his life in jeopardy, the jittery lizard sees a chance to put his acting aspirations into practice.

While the shiny star seems to make him feel better about himself, it does little to impress Beans voice by Isla Fisher , a young woman who is about to lose her farm to the Mayor voice by Ned Beatty , or the precocious little Priscilla voice by Abigail Breslin. The opening scenes of the animation are driven by a herd of droll one-liners and funny gag jokes.

But by the middle of the movie, Rango succumbs to rambling soliloquies. Although animated, characters are shot on screen, crushed, fired upon with explosives and put in dangerous situations. Much like the furry critters in this movie that spend their time wading through sand in the quest for water, the script seems to be on an endless search for solid footing.

Violence: A character is run over by a car. A character is thrown from a car onto the highway, nearly hit by speeding vehicles and smashed into a windshield. A hawk chases several animals and destroys property. Other characters are shot at, crushed, impaled with cactus needles, dropped from heights, hit with rocks, threatened with weapons, and started on fire.

Explosives are hurled at characters. A child plays with a loaded gun and points it at people. A bird has an arrow impaled in his head and through his eye. A snake threatens the townsfolk. An animal is drowned and others are put in a tank that fills quickly with water. Characters are beaten with a stick on several occasions. Birds are shown hanging in nooses.
