Thread starter GreyGti Start date Feb 4, GreyGti Ready to race! I just brought my car to the dealership to have a CEL taken care of due to a "circuit open" code related to my secondary air injection system. They then went on to say that my car is not a "PZEV" model I'm thinking that the dealer didn't want to pay for the warranty work so they tried to get me to pay it by lying to my face and over the phone. Be diligent people! It's just generating a CEL which is preventing me from passing emissions.
Don't trust what the dealerships tell you! Call VW of America to confirm before shelling out the money! Blakcard Autocross Newbie.
SnailPower Drag Racing Champion. You should send a follow-up to VWOA letting them know what the dealer was doing to you.
It's definitely sketchy and shouldn't go unpunished. Watch how quickly that dealer offers you complimentary oil changes after that, lol. GolNat Autocross Champion. Good to know, thanks.

My fiance is thinking about getting a GTI as well and has been looking at cars online. We found one, but it's listed as "PZEV"?
I looked up what the acronym stands for, but can't seem to figure out if the car is actually different. Are there disadvantages or benefits from owning a PZEV car? Bfreiman lalalalalalalalalalalala. The only thing you need to worry about with that so far is the Intake and make sure you can accommodate the Secondary Air Injection port.
It seemed odd when he said that. I hadn't found any literature that confirmed his statement. PZEVs have an extra O2 sensor, right? Last edited: Dec 19, Santorin said:.
I don't believe so. They should still have the standard wideband and narrowband. The only thing different about the PZEVs is in equipment that actually reduces emissions.
O2 sensor just measure your emissions If there's anything additional in the exhaust, it'd be an extra cat, but I haven't heard anything about that, and I haven't checked mine yet. SHFT Ready to race! Also, VW detuned the cars well below where they should be stock.
