We surveyed over people to get an idea of what the ideal engagement length is, and put together a list of reasons to go for one or the other. We also included some tips on how and when to announce your wedding depending on your timeline and what you can expect when planning your wedding. The average engagement length for the women in our survey was about 13 months, which can give you a reasonable amount of time to prepare for your wedding, fill out the paperwork and handle the most tedious tasks, like merging your finances.

Whether you have an extensive guest list or want to splurge on various details, having more time could allow you to put together a larger budget and start saving for your dream wedding.
A destination wedding not only takes a lot of extra planning for the couple but for the guests as well. Going for a more prolonged engagement will give you more time to establish the details and gives your guests the chance to make travel arrangements. If you and your partner live far from the majority of your wedding guests, giving them that extra time to plan their trip and look for deals on flights and hotels will be much appreciated.
Some couples prefer to settle certain personal or financial matters before getting married. Whether your goal is to significantly lower your debt or save up for a down payment on a house, a long engagement can work in your favor. They are forced to grow quickly with fewer resource - to do more with less. Managers have to learn to excel in managing themselves, their teams and meeting organizational goals simultaneously. But in reality, that is only true when the majority of the workforce is fully engaged in their work.
If not, they are either adding minimal value or actively working against the organization. These employees are loyal and emotionally committed to the organization.
They are in roles where they excel and where their talents are truly leveraged. They enthusiastically invest in their work and take on responsibilities outside of their job description. They are generally more likely to become emerging leaders and will stay with an organization much longer then disengaged employees.
These employees can be difficult to identify because they are often relatively happy and satisfied in their role. They are less likely to be customer-focused and are not concerned about productivity or company profitability. These team members are both a threat and great opportunity — because with the proper approach, they can be transformed into engaged employees that thrive in the organization.
